Chopin - private tour in Poland

Frederic Chopin, a great composer and pianist, was born on 1 March 1810 in Poland in Żelazowa Wola,  a village not far from Warsaw. He completed his music education in Warsaw and left Poland at the age of 20.

He is considered one of the greatest Romantic composers and is considered by Poles to be the greatest Polish artist. He lived in Paris where he composed and gave piano lessons, rarely performing in public. Called the poet of the piano. His works are still very popular, the ballads, sonatas and nocturnes, to name a few, are the evergreens of classical music. Some pieces, like the Polonaise in G Minor and Funeral March are known worldwide.

Chopin died of tuberculosis in Paris in 1849 at age 39.

The International Chopin Piano Competition was established in 1927 and is held in Warsaw every five years. Chopin’s works are very popular in Asia and pianists from Japan, Korea and China compete in the competition, not to mention young artists from Europe and America

Chopin's music, his status as one of music's earliest superstars, his (indirect) association with political insurrection, his high-profile love-life, and his early death have made him a leading symbol of the Romantic era. His works remain popular, and he has been the subject of numerous films and biographies of varying historical fidelity.
